Privacy policy

This Policy explains how BreederDex collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our public index, account tools, communications, verification, reviews, and advertising services.

Information you provide

We process account and contact details; breeder and professional profile content; animal and service listings; inquiries and messages; reviews and responses; saved profiles and searches; reports; advertising applications, campaign goals, creative, destination links, approvals, and billing status; support communications; and identity or verification documents you choose to submit.

Payment information

Stripe processes advertising payments, subscriptions, invoices, refunds, disputes, tax identifiers, billing addresses, and payment-method information. BreederDex receives transaction identifiers, customer and subscription identifiers, payment status, amounts, billing interval, and limited payment details needed for support, reconciliation, fraud prevention, and campaign operation. BreederDex does not receive full payment-card numbers.

Information collected automatically

We and our providers may collect IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, pages and features used, referring URLs, authentication and security events, request logs, error information, and cookie or session identifiers. Advertising measurement uses a browser-generated session identifier to deduplicate daily impressions and clicks. Security systems may retain rate-limit and fraud signals.

Public and restricted information

Published profiles, listings, awarded badges, reviews, responses, and approved advertisements are public and may be indexed or copied by others. Private inquiries, saved items, reports, verification documents, payment records, internal moderation material, administrator notes, and unpublished advertising applications are restricted by account role and operational need. Do not submit information you lack authority to share.

How we use information

We use information to operate search and profiles; authenticate accounts; support communications; review verification materials and advertisements; process payments and subscriptions; schedule and measure placements; prevent fraud and abuse; enforce policies; respond to support and legal requests; maintain backups and audit records; diagnose errors; secure and improve BreederDex; and comply with law.

Legal bases and choices

Where applicable, processing is based on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required. You may withdraw consent where it is the basis for processing, but that does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Service providers and disclosure

We disclose information to providers that perform services for us, including Supabase for database, authentication, and file storage; Railway for hosting; and Stripe for payment, billing, tax-support, and fraud-prevention services. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, authorities, or parties to a business transaction when reasonably necessary, required by law, or needed to protect rights, safety, users, or the service. We do not sell personal information for money.

Cookies and similar technologies

BreederDex uses essential cookies or local storage for authentication, security, preferences, and advertising measurement. Disabling essential storage may prevent sign-in or other features. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are added, this Policy and any required consent controls will be updated before use.

Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. Account and public-content records generally remain while the account or content is active. Verification, moderation, audit, payment, tax, dispute, security, backup, and deletion-request records may be retained longer to meet legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, enforcement, and recovery needs. Backup copies expire through normal rotation.

Security

We use access controls, row-level database policies, encryption provided by our infrastructure, signed payment webhooks, restricted credentials, audit records, rate limits, and operational monitoring. No system is completely secure; contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Account tools provide editing, export, and deletion-request options. Send requests to privacy@breederdex.com. We may verify identity, preserve legally required records, and deny or limit requests where permitted by law. You may appeal a denied request by replying with “Privacy appeal.”

Children

BreederDex is not directed to children under 13, and accounts and advertising purchases require users to be at least 18. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information.

International processing

BreederDex and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where data-protection rules differ. Providers are expected to use appropriate safeguards where required.

Third-party links

Profiles and advertisements may link to third-party sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.

Changes

We may update this Policy as BreederDex changes. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and, when appropriate, additional notice.
